Fruits, vegetables, eggs, herbs, turkeys|
New Family Farm connects people with good food by growing vegetables and eggs for people living in central Iowa. We promote soil health that allows us to grow food that tastes good and nourishes the people who enjoy it. We do this in healthy, biologically-active soil, controlling pests and weeds through pro-active management and gentle natural materials. New Family Farm is located two miles east of Elkhart on land that has been in the family since 1912.

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
We primarily use manure to provide nutrients for our plants, and emphasize healthy soil. If we need to use any sprays for pest control, we only (and sparingly) use organic-approved pesticides. Please inquire if you would like specifics or to discuss growing practices.
We also have approximately 130 laying hens, which we feed a non-GMO mix in addition to vegetable scraps. The hens also have constant access to more than 20 acres of cattle pasture where they can find all kinds of good, natural things that chickens like to eat.
In 2016, we are adding a couple of dozen turkeys to our product mix. Turkeys will be ready for delivery to those who order through the IFC at the Nov 17th delivery cycle. Our turkeys are raised along with our pet pigs and goats on three acres of woods, weeds, and grasses. They live very happy lives, and are certain to make you happy during your Thanksgiving feast.
We want to connect people with food, and by doing so increase awareness of broader ecological and social challenges in the world.
