Rhubarb, asparagus, flowers, paw paws, raspberries, onions, potatoes, oriental vegetables, wild harvested items such as nettles, purslane, etc.|
Pinecrest Farm is a small acreage that has been in our family since 1960. We have not used synthetic chemicals in our production since that time. Although we are not certified organic, we operate on organic principles. We believe that if you understand the principles that nature was designed with, there should be a natural solution to every farm problem. Besides vegetable production, we have a 10-acre unplowed prairie and 5 acres of pine trees.

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
We were fans of Rodale Press's Organic Gardening magazine back in the early days. We are not certified organic, but generally do not use chemicals or non-natural products. We have found that our small, diverse farm usually has fewer problems than a large monoculture operation.
Highlights this Month
Rhubarb is our best product in April and May. There is enough rain to make the spears big and sweet, tasty even when raw. The wild nettles are tender and nutritious, too, and spring is the best time to harvest them for greens. Onion chives are available any time, but springtime greens are especially welcome.
