Heritage Hill Farm was founded in the fall of 2012. This land was offered by a 5th generation family farmer in the Ames, Iowa area. My husband Adam and I have always talked about the possibility of having a farm of our own, growing some of our food, raising some animals, and enjoying the pace of life here. When this opportunity came up, right on the edge of town, we knew we would have regrets if we didn't act!
Adam and I both have shared interest in gardening and cooking. I especially am interested in heirloom vegetables (especially tomatoes). This past year, we grew over 60 varieties of heirloom tomatoes in all shapes, colors, and flavors. We both believe there is nothing more rewarding than than working hard and then enjoying the outcomes- plenty of hard work on our farm but we wouldn't have it any other way. Our farm is not certified organic but we use organic means while working towards the certification. Heritage Hill Farm has a CSA program and otherwise, our fresh vegetables are available at Farmer's Markets in the area.
