As a Lebanese American migrated to the States in the 80's, I graduated from the Hotel and Restaurant management program at the DMACC, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Penn University. In the 90’ I owned the Cedar Tree, a small coffee on the Skywalk, and in 2010 I opened Nagi’s Mediterranean grocery on 42nd street. Both businesses offered some unique and fairly unknown food items to the Des Moines area. Times have quickly changed and Falafel, Hummus, and baba Ghanouj became popular items sold in large stores and small restaurants. The opportunity came when I was given a chance to sell these items in the Farmer’s market, and the success have been on our side ever since.
