Gourmet mushrooms including; Shiitake, Blue Oyster, Pearl Oyster, King Oyster , Black King Oyster, Chestnut, Lions mane, and Maitake.|
Two Fungi fanatics started an small indoor mushroom farm to increase quality and freshness of gourmet mushrooms available, due to the inability to find them in local stores. After learning the process and eating an large amount of mushrooms ourselves we decided it was time to take our product to the community. Mushrooms are the ‘MEAT’ of vegetables and can be used to replace protein in a variety of different meals. There are a variety of mushrooms that you can’t find in the big box stores and if you do they are shipped across the country, decreasing quality and freshness. FungIowa is excited to share a variety of gourmet mushrooms grown right here in Des Moines.

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
We use natural all organic and locally sourced ingredients to create the substrate block, on which the mushrooms grow. Nothing else is used during the rest of growing process.
All mushroom blocks become compost after we are finished with it. The compost is then used for gardens, enhancing vegetable growth, working in symbiosis with nature and decreasing our waste. Can also be used to make outdoor mushroom beds as well
