Flying Pigs Farm resulted from a nine year old's inspiration and motivation. Clara announced she wanted to show pigs when she entered 4H at age nine in 2009. Her parents responded, "When pigs fly." Clara's determination and perseverance won over her parents. She showed six pigs at the county fair. The pigs sold at the fair allowed Clara to bootstrap her way into the pig business. After some false starts and plan revisions, she has focused on raising quality registered, purebred Berkshire pigs. She chose Berkshires because they are a heritage breed and are world renown for their meat quality. Her pigs are pasture raised, with no hormones or antibiotics. Farrowing crates are not used. Barrows are available for butcher. Gilts are available for breeding or butcher. So, check out Flying Pigs Farm where pigs are raised the way your grandpa did it and some days they may actually fly.
Since then, we had added chickens, turkeys, and eggs. Sometimes we have sheep, goat, and beef available. These are in limited quantities and usually the result of 4H projects. This farm is managed by Clara with her mother's assistance.
