Fresh aronia berries|
Nearly nine years ago, Charlie and Clare Kostelnick planted over a 1,000 aronia berry seedlings on Timberlea Farm, their acreage in Boone County. They were very excited to grow aronia berries because of their high nutritional value, which Europeans have benefitted from for years. Cultivating the plants without the use of chemicals, Charlie and Clare have been offering them to people in central Iowa for over five years. Clare uses the berries for juice and for delicious, refreshing smoothies as well as for cooking muffins, pancakes, and jelly.
