Audubon County Family Farms added raw honey in one pound and two pound glass jars, plus 12 oz. plastic honey bears. They also added hand made beeswax candles in 8” and 12” tapers (two per pkg) and individual 6” and 9” pillars.

Sunrise (from near Woodward) added 2# bags of certified organic German Butterball and 2# bags of certified organic Yukon Gem potatoes.

Chris’ Custom Bakery (from Ankeny) updated her sugar cookies (product 2065) to fall shapes (maple or oak leaf, plus acorn, pumpkin, and apple).

Yoke S Ranch (from near Russell) added 4 new products from their Corriente beef herd – brisket, heart, liver and tongue – to go along with their selection of traditional cuts.

Heart of Iowa Soapworks added laundry soap bars for making your own laundry soap at home using Borax & washing soda. A natural product without any added petroleum products, it comes in a 1# bulk package along with a recipe for making laundry soap.

Cory Family Farm (from near Elkhart) added goat cubed meat (great for stew or kabobs) and goat sirloin chop.

Anna’s Place (from near Grimes) listed pullet eggs, which are from young hens just starting to lay. These first eggs from new hens have excellent flavor.

Huber Family Farm (from near Maxwell) added fall carrots to go along with their potatoes and sweet potatoes.

7 Pines Farm (from near Maxwell) listed certified organic cherry tomatoes, plus sundried tomatoes (sprinkled with an Italian blend of seasonings, they will add a burst of flavor to a variety of recipes).

Grinnell Heritage Farm added certified organic cipollini onion and arugula.

Mabel Chupp with Country Lighthouse Bakery writes: “Please let everyone know that our house sold, so this will be our last cycle as we are moving south of Atlantic, Iowa.” We are sorry to see them go. This is your last chance to buy their products, including their signature Cappuccino Chip Muffins. Time to stock up your freezer!!

SalAmander Farms from near Bondurant added lamb ribs to go along with their other lamb products, plus curled parsley, thyme, okra,  sweet and hot peppers, and sunflower heads.

Cory Family Farm from near Elkhart added several cuts of lamb and goat for this cycle.

Audubon County Family Farm added brown pullet eggs (some smalls, but mostly medium sized). They may be added more eggs to their inventory on Sunday, so check back then if they are sold out.

Huber Family Farm added two kinds of sweet potatoes: Vardaman and Beauregard.

Scott from Hedgeapple Farm writes: “We have lamb in stock again. We’ve also added grass-fed ground beef and grass-fed ground beef patties.”

The Berry Patch added green beans to go along with their chive and plain parsley plants, eggplant, sweet and hot peppers, and Yukon Gold potatoes.

Pure Native added grain-free chocolate chip cookies and re-listed grain-free chocolate zucchini muffins.

Griffieon Family Farm is offering several products at sale prices: heel roasts ($3.60/lb), rolled rump roasts ($4.50/lb), round steak ($4.60/lb), minute steak ($4.25/lb), lamb neck chops ($7.00/lb), cured hams ($4.40/lb), and ham slices ($4.20/lb). They also have a new product – organ meats for pets at $1.75lb.

Susan Smith was a consumer member who switched to a producer member. Her “urban” farm is called Sunny Gardens, and she is starting out by listing Lacinato Kale.

Wilbers Northside Market added two kinds of melons (yellow and red), two kinds of tomatoes (big red and cherry) and two kinds of hot peppers.

TableTop Farm added 3# bags of chemical-free Red Norland potatoes.

Olson Family Farm added bi-color sweet corn.

Huber Family Farm is running a Canning Special on 5 lb bags of Maxibel French Filet Green Beans.

Lee from The Berry Patch writes: “We have added new yukon gold potatoes and eggplant.  We also have cucumbers, sweet corn, tomatoes, chive and plain parsley plants.”

Updates #2:

From Daily Bread Bakery: “A customer wanted us to add our whole grain certified organic hamburger buns, so we decided to try it.”

Holdeman ABF Poultry is a new producer from near Riceville in north Iowa offering antibiotic-free capon products (capons are roosters that have been neutered to improve meat quality).

Wild Rose Pastures listed eight grass-fed beef products for the first time, including t-bone, sirloin, and ribeye steaks. “We’ve been pleasantly surprised with this beef, and our customers have strongly agreed”.

From Good Shepherd Grass Farms: “We are offering 10% off our Filet/Tenderloin, Sirloin, NY Strip and Ribeye steaks. Also, our beef sticks make great snacks – give them a try!”

Crooked Gap added Breakfast Ham Steaks, Maple Breakfast Sausage, Bacon Ends (unsliced), Cottage Bacon Ends, and Jowl Bacon Ends (unsliced). They are also offering a free leaf lard sample for each product purchased this cycle. To get a sample, buy a product and then add product #1708 to your cart.

Dalla Terra Ranch has added honey and grass-fed ground beef for the first time to go along with their lamb products.

Updates #1:

Sunrise added certified organic Highlander peppers (the premiere roasting, green chili, and stuffing pepper – very mild heat ).

Grinnnell Heritage Farm added certified organic green and purple bell peppers.

Early Morning Harvest added purple basil (deep purple and green leaves, but same great basil flavor; will definately add color to your cooking) and cherry tomatoes (unbelievable sweet taste).

From LaVon with Griffieon Family Farm: Craig is slashing prices and wants the freezers emptied of cured hams! We are offering $.50/lb off on our smoked ham slices (usually $4.70/lb, but now $4.20). These are great for breakfast (then use the leftovers in scalloped potatoes for dinner). Also good on the grill. We are also marking down our smoked hams by $.30/lb, and our minute steaks by $.50/lb (stock up–the weather won’t be hot forever and chicken fried steak will taste great).

Huber Family Farm added LaRatte fingerling potatoes (unique nutty flavor and smooth, buttery texture).

Updates #2:

From Lori with Iowa Orchard: Our Jonagold apples, banana bits, and strawberry apple rings are temporarily unavailable, but we now have apple cider available in all flavors (cherry, cinnamon, cranberry, peach, raspberry).

Pure Native added Grain-free Peanut Butter Cup Mini-Biscotti that are topped with a dark chocolate drizzle (like heaven with your morning coffee or tea!).

From Becky with The Threshing Floor: The heat took care of my garden, so I’m not going to be able to list fresh produce. Sorry. Let’s hope August is cooler and wetter.

From Kristen (and her son Chess) with Live Now Rest Later: We are taking a break. Farming is harder than we thought. The squash bugs have taken over the swiss chard and the sun baked the basil. There isn’t a day in the garden that I don’t think about Little House on the Prairie and what a challenge it must have been to rely on their harvest for survival. It has been fun and rewarding though. Thanks for your support.

Weisshaar Family Farm processed two beef recently, so they’ve added T bones and porter house steaks as well as prime rib roast to their line up.

The Homestead added Rose Finn Apple Fingerling and Yellow Finn potatoes.

Huber Family Farm added Purple Viking potatoes and three kinds of french filet green beans: Maxibel (green), Concador (yellow), and Velour (purple).

The Berry Patch added yellow summer squash.

Early Morning Harvest added Nasturtium leaves, fresh basil, and Malabar spinach (not actually a spinach, but with thick, juicy, crisp leaves that taste of citrus and pepper, it holds up better in soups and stir-fries).

Sunrise added three pound bags of Cortland and Red Zepplin onions to go along with their garlic.

Updates #2:

White Stock and Produce, a new producer-owner operated by brothers Dylan and Aaron White, listed Edamame, an edible soybean that is good as a snack, appetizer, in a salad, or with a stir fry.

Reichert’s Dairy Air listed three new goat cheese products: basil feta (classic feta with fresh basil! Our best selling cheese); pesto chevre (plain chevre with a fresh pesto mixed in); and Sun dried tomato and basil chevre (plain chevre flavored with fresh garlic, sun dried tomatoes, and fresh basil!).

Wildwood Farms is back this cycle and has added a larger (12 oz) size of their fresh salsa.

Crooked Gap Farm is back this cycle after taking off the last two because of low inventories.

Threshing Floor added two new kinds of whole wheat bread that use certified organic wheat from Early Morning Harvest. Becky grinds the wheat herself for her Whole Wheat Bread, but she uses the stone ground wheat processed by Early Morning Harvest for her the Stone Ground Whole Wheat Bread.

Huber Family Farm added Desiree potatoes (pinkish skin with gourmet quality creamy-yellow flesh).

The Berry Patch added zucchini (8-10″ long, .5+ lb each) to go along with their blueberries, green beans, and tomatoes.

7 Pines Farm added fresh basil and green onions to go along with their jars of hot & medium salsa and green jalepenos (you got to check these out!)

Early Morning Harvest added lettuce bouquets (an edible bouquet with one red romaine, one green romaine, and one butterhead plant) to go along with their 1/2 lb bags of lettuce mix and milled grain products.

Sunrise added two new garlic varieties – Asian Tempest and Chesnok Red – to go along with their Elephant and German German Xtra-Hardy varieties.

Live Now Rest Later is now offering fresh basil to go along with their swiss chard.

Updates #2:

Reichert’s Dairy Air listed a new goat cheese product – Robiola di mia Nonna (a European-style cheese made in like an Italian robiola from the Piedmont region) to go along with their award-winning feta and chevre cheeses.

Yoke S Ranch added hamburger (the product consists of 10 one lb bags @ $4.50/lb) from their Corriente beef herd.

Phil of Ebert Honey writes: “I added a new product – a 55# bucket of honey with dispensing spout. I had a request for one of these so I put it in.”

Audubon County Family Farms is back with eggs this cycle (we have eggs listed by seven producers).

Pure Native added grain-free blueberry muffins (light and moist, a perfect addition to breakfast) and grain-free rosemary & fig crackers (wonderful, sweet, savory crackers perfect with Frisian Farms Gouda!).

Grandma’s Soap added Lavender and Citrus Blend Liquid Laundry Soap for the summer months for $6.75 per gallon.

Becca of Crooked Gap Farm writes: “We are low on product right now and will be taking this cycle off. Hope to be back next.”

Country Lighthouse Bakery is also taking this cycle off.

The Berry Patch has added fresh blueberries (a true summer treat) along with green beans. They’ve also relisted their greenhouse tomatoes.

Pure Native has added mini-biscuits and changed their mini-donuts to strawberry mini-donuts (using Berry Patch strawberries).

Early Morning Harvest added a variety of new milled products that are targeted towards bakers and their needs, such as bread and pastry flour.

Grinnell Heritage Farm added certified organic lacinato kale to their previously listed kohlrabi, green garlic, rainbow chard, winterbor kale, and rosemary.

Iowa Orchard added two new pie varieties in both fresh and frozen: double crust strawberry and gooseberry.

Updates #2:

Starting in June, LaVentosa Ranch is listing products only during the first of each of the next few month’s two cycles, so they’ll be back for the first cycle in July.

Wildwood Farms is doing the opposite (listing for the second of each month’s cycles). So, Lorna’s back, and she has new product: Bavarian Pretzels…a delicious snack by themselves, or with a little butter or cheese sauce.

Chess (age 12) of Live Now Rest Later is again offering swiss chard he grows in the Drake Community Garden. Chop and steam with a dash of vinegar. Tender and green, it’s a healthy and easy side dish!

Griffieon Family Farm has a 50 cent/lb sale going on their smoked ham slices (product #125).

Grinnell Heritage Farm added certified organic kohlrabi, green garlic, garlic scapes, head lettuce, rainbow chard, winterbor kale, and rosemary.

Early Morning Harvest added half pound bags of red romaine lettuce to go along with their wide array of flours and cereals.

Yoke S Ranch added ground beef patties (product #3064) from their Corriente beef herd.

Heavy Horses Farm listed four artisan breads: Hearty Country (wheat aroma and a hint of honey), Light Rye (honey sweetened bread with a light rye taste), Multi-Grain (rich hearty round with substantial texture) and Rustic Boule (classic French round with airy crumb and crackling crisp crust), plus three varieties of (their absolutely incredible) scones.

Karla from Heart of Iowa Soapworks sent this: “Farmhouse Suds is Baaaacckkk! This soap bar has revolving scents depending on which new one I want to try! One thing remains constant: the soap is made with lard and/or tallow from local Iowa Farmers. The lard is from Stamps Family Farms and the tallow from Ebersole Beef Company. It is scented with a men’s cologne fragrance called Nautica.  Tested it out on my brothers and they give it a big thumbs up!”

Iowa Orchard lowered prices on their baked and frozen traditional pies as follows: 2-crust apple and pumpkin – was $13, now $12; dutch crumb apple – was $12, now $11; dutch crumb peach – was $14, now $12; blackberry, blueberry, bluebarb, mixed berry, raspberry, strazberry, pecan, and pecan apple – was $15, now $14; cherry, peach, rhubarb, and strawberry rhubarb – was $14, now $13; chocolate pecan and Southern Missouri peach – was $16, now $15.

Producer Updates:

Good Sheperd Grass Farm is a new IFC producer from near Monroe in Southern Iowa. They are starting out with four products – 100% grass-fed ground beef as well as pasture-raised chicken (whole, cut-up, and boneless/skinless breast). Give them a try to welcome them to the IFC!!!

Two Rivers Honey is back (after being out of honey for a few cycles) with four sizes of raw wildflower honey from this year’s crop.

Grandma’s Soap is back after taking off several cycles with six different soap products, including an all-natural multi-purpose household cleaner and liquid laundry soap.

Wildwood Farms is off this cycle (Lorna will only be part of the second cycle each month this summer so she can have more time to spend on her garden, farmer’s markets, and with her daughter).

SalAmander Farms will be taking off a few cycles. Sondra notes: “New crop lamb won’t be ready till early August but if anyone wants a whole or half they should go ahead and contact me before then.” You can get her contact info off her profile on the website.

Product Updates:

Crooked Gap Farm replenished their pork inventories from their heritage-breed herd, so they’ve got ground pork, two kinds of breakfast sausage, Italian sausage, bratwurst patties and links, sliced ham, and shoulder roast.

Sunrise added one and five pound sizes of certified organic garlic scapes (“delicious and tender, ready for pesto, grilling, saute, garlic butter”), plus a cherry tomato tranplant (“meaty, very sweet, early with prolific yields”).

SalAmander Farms added four new varieties of heirloom vegetable transplants (#3037 through #3040), bringing their total to 34 different kinds of transplants. They’ve also got asparagus and rhubard listed.

Audubon County Family Farms added rendered lard and pork dog bones.

Early Morning Harvest added 2.5 pound bags of rye flour to go along with their ground wheat and corn products.

Producer Updates:

Iowa Farm Families let us know last Friday they are going out of business. We are sorry to see them go. They’ve been members since our launch in October of 2008, but the downturn in the economy has finally taken its toll. We’ve still got plenty of pork listed (see product update info to the left), but their products will be missed.

Country Harvest is a new producer member from near Bloomfield with 13 different types of jam made with fruits from their farm listed this month.

The Cory’s have changed their name to Cory Family Farm, so you won’t find them in the same place in the alphabetized list of our producers.

Wildwood Farms is back (they are selling every other cycle so they have more gardening time), and they’ve added strawberry transplants and greens (Asian Stir-Fry Mix and Mesclun Mix) to go along with their baking and soup mixes, granola bars, and roasted nuts.

LaVentosa Ranch is back as well, and they’ve added grassfed beef patties, beef sticks, dried beef, and beef jerky.

Product Updates:

Two Rivers Honey: I’m about out of my last year’s honey, and this year’s crop isn’t quite ready. The bees are getting some comb filled, but nothing is really quite full and nothing is capped. Therefore, I’ve removed our honey. Sorry. Hopefully they’ll get some capped soon!

The Berry Patch: We’ve updated by adding strawberry hanging baskets, plus more blueberry plant varieties (Rubel is an older type that is very high in anti-oxidants and flavor). We’ve also added zucchini and swiss chard.

SalAmander Farms: My updates are done: in addition to the herb and heirloom veggie transplants I had already listed, I’ve added a new tomato variety (#2954) and a new eggplant variety (#2955).

The Homestead: We added 4″ pots and 4-packs of a wide variety of Certified Naturally Grown tomato and pepper transplants, and we’ve also got a variety of veggie transplants for sale (and some butternut winter squash that we managed to keep since last fall’s harvest).

Wagner Enterprises: We’ve added a couple of sizes of cheesecake – half and quarter pans. They went over really well at the open house, so we thought we give them a try online.

Producer Updates:

From Mabel Chupp with Country Lighthouse Bakery: We are moving to south of Atlantic, IA, so this will be my last cycle. All I’m listing is our fresh rhubarb. It has been wonderful to be part of the coop. Thanks to everyone.

From Lorna Martin and Wildwood Farms: I have unlisted myself for this cycle.  This spring and summer I will be participating in only the second ordering cycle each month, so I will have more time to spend on my garden, farmer’s markets and with my daughter.

From Pam at Krieger Greenhouses: We have updated our product listing to none available for the next few cycles. The next couple months are our busy season.

From Carrie Meyer at LaVentosa Ranch: We’ll be taking this cycle off because the first farmers market of the season will be on the following Saturday. The first one is always a challenge, so we need to be focused on getting ready.
