From Becky with Threshing Floor (from Dallas Center): “I would like to encourage people to relax with some of Threshing Floor sticky pecan rolls or cinnamon rolls.” Sounds like they’d be perfect with some hot coffee or tea.

From Cindy with Audubon County Family Farms (from Audubon): “This will be the last cycle to order aronia berries and spare ribs for a while. I’ll be taking January and February off, but will return in March with the berries and other products.”

Wildwood Farms (from Wellsburg) added some new gifts including beautiful handmade wooden pens, rolling pins, wine stoppers, and letter openers. Lorna also listed two gift boxes (Holiday Breakfast and Soup & Bread), and she’s got holiday specials on nuts, trail mixes, and baking mixes.

Chris’ Custom Bakery (from Ankeny) listed incredibly detailed decorated holiday sugar cookies and a new DIY sugar cookie kit w/ cookies and frosting–a perfect holiday activity for kids!

Salama Greenhouse, Inc. (from Boone) has large red Poinsettia’s as well as potted orchids, spinach, and Swiss chard. 

Great River Maple (from Garnavillo) has their maple syrup gift baskets back in stock!

From Donna with Wagner Enterprises (from Dallas Center): “Hi. I am back online and am offering pies for Christmas: Apple, Cherry, Peach, Pecan, or Pumpkin made with fruit from this year harvest. You can freeze the pie for Christmas or for New Years. Thanks, Donna.”

Lee’s Greens (from Nevada) has salad greens, lettuce mix, spinach, red and green kale, arugula, radishes, sweet baby white turnips, and potatoes along with potted herbs this cycle. NOTE: They also listed 10″x21″ flats of 4-6″ tall wheat and rye grass: great for chickens and other animals that like grass greens!

From Jocelyn with Pickle Creek Herbal (from Brighton): “I’m excited to list for the first time what has been a pet project of mine for a long time: Herb-infused fruit vinegars; specifically, Strawberry Basil Balsamic and Blueberry Lemon Thyme Balsamic. Also, I added a Candy Cane (Peppermint) gift bag to go along with our other bath salt/soap/lip balm gift bags, and I’ve listed the Frog’s Legs Shallots again this cycle—but once these are gone, we’ll be sold out until next season. Thanks and Happy Holidays!”

WW Homestead Dairy (from Waukon) has listed three holiday gift boxes: Cheedar Cheese Sampler, Cheese Curd Sampler, and Taste of WW Homestead Dairy. As of this morning (Wednesday), they still have butter available as well!

Herbal Bliss Soaps (from Boone) is a new IFC producer, making their debut with healing hand salve and ‘Lemonchello’ bar soap–both make perfect gifts.

Kiowa House of Herbs (from Searsboro) added many, many new cakes (twelve, to be exact), from angel food to German chocolate to devil’s food. And don’t miss their new almond pastries!

Al Dente Toffee (from Adel) listed new toffee flavors–double dark chocolate and ginger snap. The ginger snap is made with molasses and has crushed ginger snap cookies on top.

Heritage Hill Farm (from Ames) introduced a new bar soap, ‘Sweet Citrus Goats Milk Bar Soap with Orange Peel & Essential Oils’, a nice scent for the holidays.

Salama Greenhouse, Inc. (from Boone) added Large and XL Red Poinsettias (find them in the Live Plants Subcategory of the Non-Food Category). These classic holiday plants are large, bushy with plenty of blooms. Includes pot cover and bow.

Iowa Choice Harvest, LLC (from Ames) now carries frozen bags of locally harvested aronia berries–perfect for smoothies.

Good Shepherd Grass Farms (from Monroe) is pleased to offer their new beef Italian sausage–with just enough spice for Italian pasta dishes and sandwiches. 

WW Homestead Dairy (from Waukon) added three gift box options: the Cheese Curd Sampler Box (featuring their cheese curds); the Cheddar Cheese Sampler Box (featuring several types of their cheddar cheese); and the Taste of WW Homestead Gift Box (featuring their cheddar cheese curds, cheddar cheeses, and salted butter).

Kiowa House of Herbs (from Searsboro) is now serving a multitude of muffins–from Banana Walnut to Double Cherry to Parsnip (!)–using Iowa-milled flour from Early Morning Harvest. Also check out their new chocolate herbal teas.

Broadhorn Farm (from Truro) has some exciting new items: quick cooking beef cubes and 7-bone chuck steak. They are also having a sale on short ribs this cycle.

Grimm Family Farm (from Williamsburg) listed red storage beets and red cabbage in addition to several potato varieties.

Elements of Rejuvenation (from Leon) introduced a new soy wax candle called ‘Campfire’ and will be at our Franklin space on the next two distributions to sell their products. Perfect last-minute gift!

Zaza’s Pasta (from North Liberty) added a Herbed Linguine and Whole Wheat Linguine to their inventory. Handmade pasta makes a superb gift!

Heritage Hill Farm (from Ames) has a new soap – Lavender Goat’s Milk – that features dried lavender grown on their farm. It comes packaged to give as a gift. They’ve also listed winter squash (and welcome to Jessica from Heritage Hill as a new producer board member!).

From Country View Yogurt (from Hawkeye): “We are partnering with another IFC producer – Harvest Moon Farms – to create a unique healthy treat: Aronia Blackberry Custard Greek Yogurt. Our trial run last cycle went well, so we’ve made more 3 lb tubs available AND we’ll include one 6 oz cup in each Greek Variety pack. We also have cases of 12-6 oz cups available in limited quantity. Give it a try this cycle!”

Audubon County Family Farms (from Audubon) has restocked their pork spare ribs and are including their recipe for preparing them in the oven. Another good holiday option!

Yoke S. Ranch (from Russell) added Corriente beef summer sausage–a must have for holiday cheese plates.

Griffieon Family Farm (from Ankeny) has lowered the price of their beef loin tenderloin by $1 and their country-style pork ribs by 75 cents.

Purrfect Muttchies (from Truro) added Banana Mini Muffins with homemade dehydrated banana chips and updated their Clever Pooch Pineapple Coconut Kisses. Treat your pets!

From Lee of Lee’s Greens (from Nevada): “We have our nice selection of greens (lettuce, spinach, Swiss chard, arugula, baby red kale, baby green kale) as well as potatoes, radishes, turnips, and potted herbs.”

Des Moines Bacon Company (from Des Moines) listed three ham products (got to have ham!): Nitrate/Nitrite Free Applewood Smoked Holiday Spiral Ham, Uncured Applewoood Boneless Pit Ham, and Uncured Black Forest Boneless Pit Ham.

New Family Farm (from Elkhart) listed potatoes, onions, and various winter squash – all great for Thanksgiving meals.

The Kiowa House of Herbs (from Searsboro) has their food processing plant license, so they’ve added a wide array of new products: six kinds of bread, seven kinds of pie (including parsnips and sweet potato), twelve kinds of jam/jellies, and seven kinds of soup. Amazing! 

The Threshing Floor (from Dallas Center) is back this cycle. Becky notes that they’ll be listed only the second cycle in Oct., Nov., and Dec., so please plan accordingly. Also, she’s added cornmeal dinner rolls made from organic cornmeal from Early Morning Harvest (delicious with soup).

Donna of Wagner Enterprises (from Dallas Center) notes: “I’ve listed some new products: Gluten-free sugar cookies, gluten-free sandwich bread, and gluten-free one-crust special order pies. I can do any kind of pie gluten-free just with one crust and crumbs on the top.”

7 Pines Farm (from Maxwell) has many new items you including marinara sauce in 16 oz tubs and a wide range of pork cuts from their pasture-raised Berkshire/Yorkshire crossbred hogs.

Heart of Iowa Soapworks (from Gilbert) is listing soaps for the last time. Stock up while you can! Her business is being sold, but she is going to maintain her membership because she loves the co-op.

Ebersole Cattle Co. (from Kellerton) added inventory to their famous extra-lean grassfed beef back including a new product: summer sausage.

WW Homestead Dairy (from Waukon) added limited quantities of salted butter, but they are out of unsalted butter. They have a full set of their incredible milks available in both half and whole gallon sizes.

Timber Ridge Cattle Co. (from Osceola) added peppered jerky, jalapeno summer sausage, and spicy ‘Hot Brats’ from their Swabian-cross hogs (which according to Pete are great in pasta and stir-fry dishes.

Anna’s Place Poultry (from Grimes) added free-range turkeys just in time for the holidays–order now to ensure your turkey ultra-fresh and from a local farmer!

Great River Maple (from Garnavillo) added Grade B maple syrup in limited quantities; Grade B is a darker syrup from later in the season, It’s a treat for those who know its butter-rich flavor.

Country View Dairy (from Hawkeye) has their 6 oz cases and 3 lb tubs of Greek blackberry custard yogurts on sale this cycle – this is a new variety that has gotten great reviews from people who’ve tried it.

From Mike of Salama Greenhouse (from Boone): “Our 2nd crop of orchids are blooming again, so I added them to our spinach, swiss chard, kale, and tomato offerings.” A perfect way to bring some cheer in during the colder months.

Global Greens farmers with new stuff: Jacqueline Ndabazaniye (Dry ‘Tongue of Fire’ beans), Simon Bucumi (Rutabaga), and Etiene Hacimana (Kennebec potatoes, red onion).

Purrfect Muttchies (from Truro) “I updated all the recipes with the new flour, which is Wheat and dairy free (Gluten Free) and added a Chinese marinade for the Jerky.” Pet-friendly treats for humans, too!

Yoke S Ranch (from Russell) put their NY Strip steaks on sale for $10/lb.

Dangood Gardens (from Johnston) is offering ‘Mother of Thousands’ houseplants along with two kinds of Japanese shiso (a culinary herb used in stir-fries or on sandwiches). 

Lee’s Greens (from Nevada) listed lettuce, spinach, baby red and green kale, arugula, potted herbs, and winter squash. Lee notes they’ll probably add some radishes and turnips later this week.

New items to add to your shopping list:


Butter Me Up! (from Marion) is our newest producer. They offer many varieties of almond, cashew, hazelnut, and peanut butter. Unique flavors include cappuccino peanut butter, dark chocolate hazelnut butter (like Nutella, but without any of the artificial flavor!), and white chocolate almond butter. Welcome aboard! We are very excited to have peanut butters made in Iowa!Daily Bread Bakery (from Algona) is offering a few specialty yeasted-loaf breads this season like Apple Cinnamon Swirl + Pumpkin Spice–these would be perfect with some almond butter!

Heart of Iowa Soapworks (from Gilbert) says ‘I made a batch of soap as a request from one of our farmers.  It’s a Dragon’s Blood & Amber blend. This smells really, really good! Like a sensual cologne. This is a masculine scent.’

Holdeman ABF Poultry (from Riceville) has several favorites back in stock: capon brats, capon breasts, honey + swiss capon sticks, and smoked capon breast. These always go fast!Lee’s Greens (from Nevada) listed all your fall favorites, from from greens to winter squash, including a rare variety known as ‘Giant Pink Banana Squash’.

Iowa Orchard (from Urbandale) introduced a new apple variety this cycle–Greening Apple, similar to Granny Smith, a tart green apple, perfect for cooking.

Yoke S Ranch (from Russell) still has their Corriente beef brisket on sale this cycle along with a new item, Corriente soup bones.

Country View Yogurt (from Hawkeye) now offers their Greek Blackberry Custard yogurt in a 3 lb tub! This is a new size in very limited quantities. They are also continuing their sale on 3 lb tubs @ $5 each – a real bargain!

Chris’ Custom Bakery (from Ankeny) updated their sugar cookie themes for fall–new options include fall leaves and football related shapes. These are intricately decorated and make a tremendous gift as well!

Great River Maple (from Garnavillo) is our newest producer. They offer 100% Iowa maple syrup from their century farm on the bluffs of the Mississippi river. Try their pure maple syrup, or treat yourself to their Maple Cream. We are very excited to welcome them to the Co-op! Shop here.

Two Amish families from Bloomfield that were Iowa Heritage Foods have separated into two different producers: Yoder’s Natural Farm and Hickory Hills Farm. Both have eggs, beef, pork, and chicken listed, and Yoder’s Natural Farm also has lamb, duck,  and ground turkey. 

Country View Dairy (from Hawkeye) has 3 lb tubs of yogurt on sale with a .50 cent discount per tub. Don’t miss out!

WW Homestead Dairy (from Waukon) has again listed salted and unsalted butter (they had been using most their cream for ice cream instead of butter). You’ll also want to buy some of their incredible cream-line milk, cheese, and ice cream products.

Rosebud Botanicals (from Afton) is offering a whole new line of products including ‘lotion-on-a-stick’ and Berry Body Batter, made with aronia berries and cocoa!

Heritage Hill Farm (from Ames) added eggplant, peppers, and baby beet bundles and New Pioneer Farm (from Carlisle) added spaghetti squash and sugar pie pumpkins.

Global Greens farmer Jacqueline Ndabazaniye  (farming in Des Moines, originally from Congo) listed butternut squash, zucchini, and dry beans–get these while they are still around!

Other Global Greens farmers with new stuff: Narad Bastola (Bhutanese pumpkins, Coosa squash, daikon radish); Bucumi Simon (arugula, mustard greens); Angelique Hakuzimana (arugula, okra, carrots); Bizimana Charles (red beets).

Salama Greenhouse (from Boone) is offering 10″ and 12″ potted mums, kale, spinach, and artisan tomatoes.

Berry Patch Farm (from Nevada) listed their famous Honeycrisp, Macoun and Lura apples.

Early Morning Harvest (from Panora) added some new pepper varieties: Red Flame, Red Rocket, Habanero, Hot Paper Lantern, Sweet Bananas, and Sweet Bell.

Iowa Orchard (from Urbandale) offers six flavors of apple cider–perfect this time of year–in addition to all of their apple varieties and baked goods.

Raccoon Forks Farm (from Redfield) listed large pasture-raised chickens and Yoke S Ranch (from Russell) has their Corriente beef brisket on sale this cycle.

Fieldstone Farms (from Clemons) added three new beeswax candles: Celebration Cake, Honeycomb Pillar, and Rustic Fern Pillar.

Huber Family Farm (from Maxwell) is offering some beautiful potato varieties along with some of their famous Bolero carrots! Pick up some Mountain Rose pink-skin/pink-flesh potatoes or some Purple Vikings, with their purple tie-dye skin (They make the world’s best mashed potatoes.).

Iowa Orchard (from Urbandale) is back with several varieties of apples: Gala, Blondee, Golden Supreme, Mollie’s Delicious, Paula Red, RedFree, and Wealthy. And don’t forget the apple cider!

Early Morning Harvest (from Panora) is offering 25 pound bags of your favorite flours from Certified Organic grains grown here in Iowa–perfect for those who do a lot of baking!

Global Greens farmer Bizimana Charles (farming in Des Moines, originally from Burundi) is offering beautiful  ‘Tongue of Fire’ beans (choose fresh or dry) and cherry tomatoes.

7 Pines Farm (from Maxwell) has garden fresh salsa (made from their very own organic produce). Also, pick up a 10 lb box of their canning tomatoes and make some tomato sauce or salsa of your own.

New Pioneer Farm (from Carlisle) listed potted mums in purple, white, and yellow, perfect to add fall color to your front porch or deck. Don’t forget to pick up some of their acorn squash, too.

Berry Patch Farm (from Nevada) is back with apples–we’ve missed them! Dean Henry, owner, says ‘Apple season is in full swing now, a few days early and with lots of color.’ Shop their Honeycrisp, Lura, or ‘early’ mix of William’s Pride, Earligold, and Redfree.

Good news from Heart of Iowa Soapworks (from Gilbert), owner Karla Moore says, ‘I’ve had a change of heart and have decided to stay in business for the time being.  But, I am actively looking for a buyer. I have been absolutely swamped with customers wanting me to keep going….’ She’s added Bergamot & Violet soap, a limited edition while she uses up her remaining supplies.

Griffieon Farm (from Ankeny) has lowered prices on their t-bone steaks by .50/lb this month–grilling season isn’t over yet!

Heritage Hill Farm (from Ames) listed several herbs–perfect for freezing or drying so you can have ‘fresh’ herbs all winter long.

Riverview Berry Farm (from West Bend) is a new IFC producer with a 20-acre blackberry farm they started in 2010. Their mission is to provide great tasting, nutritious, locally-grown berries. Welcome aboard!

Heritage Hill Farm (from Ames) listed gorgeous flower bouquets (order one for your table and one for a friend!) and a wide selection of fresh produce (including 20 lb boxes of Roma tomatoes for canning). Jessica noted: “We are so excited to be a producer for the COOP. My mother in law, visiting from Arizona, came along when we dropped off last cycle; she was impressed and slightly jealous she didn’t have something like ours in AZ!”

Fieldstone Farms (from Clemons) added ‘Chunk Honey’ which is a jar of raw honey that includes the honeycomb.

Iowa Orchard (from Urbandale) was given a variance to sell Missouri peaches the next few cycles. Bryan assures us their flavor is amazing because the fruit are tree-ripened (as opposed to being picked green).

Heritage Hill Farm (from Ames) is a new IFC producer that has listed Green Beans, Red Cabbage, Rhubarb, Shallots, Yellow Summer Squash, Zucchini, and three kinds of potatoes (Heirloom Fingerling, Purple, and Red Norland). Welcome aboard!

Maxwell Farms (from State Center) listed green beans, tomatoes, Patty Pan squash, Athena melons, Big Jim NuMex and Poblanos peppers, and three kinds of potatoes.

Quaking Bog Botanicals (from Fairfield) listed green and red cabbage along with garlic.

Grade A Gardens (from Johnston) State Fair Apples, Hardneck Garlic Braids, Cortland Yellow Onions, Redwing Red Onions, Conservor Shallots, German Butterball Potatoes, and La Ratte Fingerling Potatoes.

Zaza’s Pasta (from Iowa City) has only listed non-refrigerated dry pastas since Julie opened her new store this last spring, but this cycle she’s added some of her sauces and frozen items (she said something about someone going to an Iowa Cubs ball game).

Wildwood Farms (from Wellsburg) is back this cycle and has added three new items: Toffee Chip Brownie Mix, Apple Crunch Trail Mix, and Nut and Fruit Trail Mix. You really ought to check out Lorna’s products – they are amazing.

Global Green’s eight farmers (refugees from places where conflicts have displaced families) continue to add more and more fresh produce items. Seeing their wonderful products and the smiles on their faces feels so good.

Chris’ Custom Bakery (from Ankeny) added a product that’s selling well at farmer’s markets: Multi-Grain Wheat Bread. Its made with “spent grains” from local breweries (the barley, wheat, or rye used in the brewing process). They have high nutritive value and add a great flavor to the bread. Chris also notes that her my commercial kitchen is a nut-free facility, and families with nut allergies should feel free to contact her.

Purrfect Muttchies (from Truro) adjusted up the weights for their amazing pet treats from 5 to 7 ounces per package, but they’ve kept the price the same. They do a really nice job – a truly unique product.

Lee’s Greens (from Nevada) has cucumbers, Zucchini, summer squash, green beans, green bell peppers, eggplant, green tomatoes for fried green tomatoes, and potted herbs listed.

7 Pines Farm (from Maxwell) added certified organic green tomatoes, red tomatoes, onions, and Yukon Gold potatoes to go along with their cucumbers, kale, leeks, peppers, and garlic. They’ve also got flavored butters, cheese spreads, salsas, dry mixes, and pasture-raised broilers (a truly eclectic producer).

Tesdell Farm Fresh Produce (from Slater) has German Extra Hardy garlic on sale in “bulk” quantities (10 heads for $9).

Sunrise (from Woodward) listed fresh-picked Aronia berries (the world’s heathiest fruit).

New Pioneer Farm (from Carlisle) added watermelon, cantaloupe, and blackberries to go along with their blueberries, strawberries, sweet corn, green beans, onions, and summer squash.

Yoke S Ranch (from Russell) has their sirloin roast on sale for $5/lb.

Wild Rose Pastures (from Reasnor) added Beef Tenderloin, Rib Eye Steaks, and a Grass-Fed Beef Bundle.
